Using d'internet since 1990 and I honestly only heard my first
TWiT on Tuesday. Feel kinda stoopid. Never knew what the hell
@topgold was talking about,
thought he meant Twitter :-)
@ChiefTWIT is an
American radio voice so unless you have internet radio, you would
have missed TWIT on the air and quite possibly never thought about
listening to it even if you saw it. I will post Calacanis, Doctorow
and Winer alerts on this channel when I hear those celebs on
TWIT.
I really enjoy TWiT, Security Now, net@night (all Leo Laporte's stuff) and many
of Peter Days' World of Business podcasts. Would love to hear what
others are listening to.
Brilliant show - it's like the Gillmor gang without the being
too serious and with manners (excluding Davorak), but even
Calacanis behaves. As suggested above, if you like it you should
check out "security now" and revisit some of the revision3 stuff
especially tekzilla.
I tend to listen to niche shows about audio/video/multimedia
mostly but Twit is one pure tech that I don't miss. I like to scour
the iTunes U for odd stuff too.
@festoon re: tech tunnel
vision - right with you - it's easy to get too engrossed. i do try
to mix up all the tech shows (gillmor, twit, security now) with a
little movie review - kermode & mayo 5 live film reviews or
filmspotting, or winecasts, Cory Doctorow reading short stories,
Melyvn Braggs amazing In our Time, the restaurant guys (thanks
Conor) the terrific arts show on phantom - the kiosk, berry
brothers podcasts, and the wonderful but not frequent enough
Stephen Fry. on the video front thru Miro i'm subbed to ... jaysus
it's almost all tech - tekzilla, webb alert, geekbrief, unwired,
wine library tv, social brew and the smartphone show .... how sad
... need life...
Hey if you like Mark Kermode - are you watching "the culture
show" on BBC2 10pm Tuesdays ... good stuff ... if you can put up
with Lauren Laverne.... and DO check out "the Kiosk" phantom arts
show with Nadine O'Regan SBP arts columnist, you'd see her on "the
view" a bit too. Pretty, great taste in music and books, what more
do you need?
OK kudos for kenikie - definitely. But I feel like she's a
clever girl who dumbs it down to seem cool, not to mention I lost
all respect after the fawning Lou Reed interview.
I used to love "the view", but recently John Kelly has been
coming on way too strong with his opinion, rather than objectively
hosting, which is obviously having a massive influence on some of
the panellists. As an impartial host, you cant ask someone for an
opinion after you've just declared the author/
songwriter/playwright to be a genius.
N95-8GB happily grabbing a bunch of those right now. Next job is
to figure out how to wire Catherines 6233 into her radio as she is
looking for decent podcasts too. No line-in on the Zafira's
Balupunkt and I've found that FM transmitters work badly it. I
ended up replacing the Ford RDS600 in my car with a crappy Lidl
stereo because it has line-in, USB and SD/MMC. May have to do same
for her.
@mmbhg has a very sweet PSP
option that I hope he shares at Podcamp Ireland. It belongs in
every home that wants to share playlists that perform like radio
stations.
Hmm. Is PSP good for movies etc? €170 on pixmania.
Checked movie capability on DS but it doesn't have the welly for
DivX. Must check to see how cheap the N770 has gone. Makes a
brilliant media player (if not such a good internet tablet).
Thanks conor. Next question... what's PSP? Re car stereo, I've
been tempted to get a socket for the iPod installed. Either that or
back to cassette/line in. Or just stick with Phantom and R4LW (when
it's not cricket or too interferey).

I'll just keep my eyes peeled for Weiner alerts.

Right. We'll back each other up in this important community listening initiative.

I have a TwiT fleece - lots of geeky holes for iPods and stuff. Though most people find the word Twit embossed on your chest a little strange.

I like some of the Guardian podcasts: Science Weekly and Tech weekly. MacBreak Weekly from Leo Laporte also a regular on my iPod.

Always wary of getting tech 'tunnel vision'.

@conoro Snap on Kermode (I'm actually grumpy on the weeks he's on holiday) and Bragg. Must check out the phantom arts show.

Great tips. Gonna try em all. Glad Phantom back doing Podcasts, they stopped for ages.

@eske Yeah, I watch the Culture Show. Handle Laverne by remembering she was in Kenikie. Will try the Kiosk, even though I find the View full

*oops! I mean I find the The View dull and self-important in the worst - they either hate or love everything.

Classic The View comment: "Well X didn't really work for me. I didn't believe the characters". Sigh.

PSP is the Playstation Portable, I think?
I've put a Lidl cheapie radio in our camper as it had a USB port and flash card socket. No aerial on the bus, so radio reception is crap anyway.

That was certainly my instant reaction on what PSP stands for

In this thread PSP is Playstation Portable.

Ah OK thanks. I did read that but didn't know it could do other things. Thanks.
