Yeuch, ended up crashed from 8pm onwards last night due to stomach cramps. Lemme guess, I'm allergic to Voltarol?

I can sympathize with you there! Went to get my blood tests a
few weeks ago, ostensibly for cholesterol, but really to get to the
bottom of my stomach problems. Everything came back normal except
for elevated bilirubin in the liver. The doc suspects Irritable
Bowel Syndrome but that can only be determined by a process of
elimination. So I'm booked in for the full colonoscopy and
abdominal ultrasound in a few weeks time. A few weeks too many as
far as I'm concerned because I'd really like to get this sorted out
now. A constant, nervy, butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling is damn
distracting when you're trying to get work done :(
I've had various stomach probs since I was 16 - most of the time
I ignore them but last night was a bad un. Only one drug works 100%
but you are not allowed take it long-term. It's called Nexium and
is given as part of h.pylori treatment. They have the best named
web-site of all time:
Its definitely a profession thing I would say. I have it too
during the night. I would say sitting in bad posture coupled with
lack of excercise. The problem for me was that when I tried to
excercise by running or walking, it actually made it worse, due to
friction I guess. I'm now swimming once every 2 or 3 days and this
really seems to be helping. It doesn't get rid of it completely,
but its much more bearable. The key I find, is to know how much you
can push yourself with the swimming. Avoid overdoing it.
Lol, enough with that. I was slow about telling friends because
I just knew I'd get hit with 'itchy hole syndrome' all the time!
Just as well I didn't tell them the full story, which is that the
doc suspects IBS is a symptom of Gilbert's Syndrome (ya, enough
with the syndromes already). Having never heard of it that
frightened me a bit but the doc said it's common enough (5% of
population). Thankfully it's no big deal, although the 'brain fog'
part is definitely one of the more troublesome symptoms (as if I
wasn't already dopey enough!)
I must check out that Nexium stuff. I've been having a hard time
deciding between the red pill and the blue pill but looks like I'll
be choosing the purple pill now (groan ;-)
Yeah, my sister thinks I have IBS and is a Motilium fanatic!
Does Gilbert's Syndrome involve breaking into operatic song :-)
I'll look it up so I can then say "see see, I told you I was
ill"
Nexium is just the next-gen of stomach acid relievers. Works in
a different more effective way than the older drugs like Tagamet.
But fixing that seems to fix me in general (at least whilst I am
taking it).

You can get it non-prescription in the US, so any time I am over I buy a few boxes and live in stomach heaven for a couple of weeks.
Rest of the time I just suffer loudly :-)

Stomach is my achilles heel too. I wonder is it the profession we're working in.

Sitting all the time putting pressure on it, yeah that actually makes a lot of sense!
I've just realised the double entendre in my last comment.

Operatic song? It probably would if I had vocal chords in my rectum ;-)

I still don't know if I'm more frightened or relieved to realize that I identify with so many of the symptoms.
